I have that UB40 are better, my WBA supporting uncle says that ELO is better.
What say you?
ELO!
but The Moody Blues beat both?
UB40 are reggae version of steps. To compare them to ELO is absurd.
For such a big city we aren't well served by local bands
Compared to Manchester,Liverpool and London etc we're not very good
Black Sabbath. Probably the band who invented heavy metal. No. 1.
ELO were more commercially successful, but not as innovative. No. 2.
UB40 were never great musicians, but they had a sound. No 3.
Ocean Colour Scene. Terrific band who wrote some great tunes but not as successful as the others. No 4.
Steel Pulse. Underrated. No 5.
Black Sabbath, ELO, Moody Blues, Duran Duran, OCS, then UB40 in terms of record sales worldwide probably,

Would Wizzard have the biggest hit by a Brummie band though?
Seeing as reggae is shit, it’s ELO.
Best Brummie band is Sabbath though and it’s not even close.

Completely agree ... after the first 18 months or so when they had some originality they quickly became cruise ship cabaret performers - and inevitably that's when most people started liking them and they had their gretest success in terms of sales.
Steel Pulse .... there was a decent, much better, Brummie reggae band for one.

Possibly the worst ever take on this website.
Brum has the most diverse and longest influence on global music of any city I can think of apart from Seattle. Manchester had Britpop for a while? Liverpool had the Beatles and that’s about it really.
The amount of wide ranging globally famous genre defining bands from this city is absurd.

?? Judas Priest have sold over 40 million albums v OCS 1.4 million
Not that i'm a fan - but they do seem to be an omission
edit ... just Googled it for accuracy .. over 50 million albums actually
Judas Priest, Spencer Davis Group, The Streets even Fuzz Box were original
Dexys. Early Dexys were brilliant. I wasn't keen on the folky Dexys.
