Blues were the longest-serving Championship club until relegation, a 13-year tenure. For the last eight of those 13 years, let's face it, it was hardly enjoyable. A dark cloud of discontent and underachievement hung over Blues. The ownership, off field issues, a seemingly annual scrap for survival o

...good read Tatts, we certainly have to do something like Portsmouth did this season, winning 28 and losing only 5 games, if we are going to bounce back at the first time of asking 👍😤
Tatts, you are obviously unaware of the scientific impossibility of signing a striker.

This is a football club, not a bible story, take your miracles elsewhere!

As a certain Mr S Bruce used to say 'you're only as good as your strikers' once the real ball comes out.

Theres definitely some truth to that saying. If we have a budget I would assign a good chunk of it to recruiting two strikers.

Thinly veiled call for the return of Steve Bruce? Going back to 2016 didn't work, we need to do retro appointments properly.

*We're only as good as wor strikers

He's right to an extent, though how good they are depends on whether you're set up to get the best out of them.

Most people would think Clayton Donaldson wasn't up to much but he was one of the best 'hold up' players I've ever seen at Championship level. Missed chances but created so much for everyone.

On the other hand, Scott Hogan seems to be really good when he doesn't have to think and has shown some really good instinctive finishes in his time here, overall though I'd say he's pretty rubbish.

Let's hope we can sign the three we need this summer.

You can't have enough firepower, Brucie was right

Think back to that season in 06/07 we had Forssell, Campbell, Bendtner, Jerome, McSheffrey, Cole on loan and Vine's one goal that cost £1m and boiled the p of Billy Davies

Exactly, you need different types and a wide enough pool to cover for dips in form. It's what's baffled me about us basically going with 2 (at most 3) for the past how many years.

It feels like a weird blind spot at the club but obvious to everyone else that it was too light for too long.

Said a lot did Bruce. Mainly bull shit. Said he understood rivalries as a Newcastle supporter and the importance of derbies. Then managed us and vile after us. Sheff Wed and United. Newcastle and Sunderland.
Said he’d been attacked by burglars but had got beat up Lee Hendrie who’d banged his daughter.
Not a fan if you hadn’t sussed

Part of the issue we have had is that we have gone in for centre-forwards at various times recently, but have either been outbid by clubs on fees or wages, or they just don't want to come to us.

All being well that is going to change. Take the point about it being a blind spot, though. It's something we've not really got to grips with and sometimes you might just have to take a gamble - Che was a slow burner until his breakout season.
