I have had to have a static IP address for a new piece of software that I need to use. from memory i have herd talk that a static IP address can be vulnerable; Is there anything I can do to protect it?
The answer is that it very much depends.
Is this on a work network ? .. or something you using yourself ?
I'm not aware of increased vulnerailities these days - but it may cause some problems with bits of hardware clashing for use of a fixed IP address
Anywways- what i really wanted to say is that if you are worried, and it is software that you won't use very often then try .... "Simple Static IP" from [
www.majorgeeks.com] ... then you can switch to a static IP whenever you want
