Arlott, trueman, Maxwell etc. I loved hearing holding and bishop for a WI series (and older voices I can't remember) but Carlos Braithwate sounds great on the radio I think...
Even though he was on tv, Richie Benaud, I thought, was the voice of cricket.
Vic Marks is good. Has the right kind of self deprecating, gentle whimsy. A couple of years ago they had Mitchell Johnson and Glenn McGrath. Awful, like listening to a couple of boors on Under The Cosh.
Michael Holding - knowledge, humility but with the ability to cut straight to the point.
When he described Mohammed Amir’s no-ball as not looking good, you knew exactly what he was saying without saying it.
The cat next doorEven though he was on tv, Richie Benaud, I thought, was the voice of cricket.
Definitely this. Who can forget switching BBC1 on in the 80s and watching 4 or 5 overs and then Richie saying we now have to leave the cricket for Pebble Mill!
