Birmingham City are looking to add to their eight summer signings and more exits could affect their plans

Interesting that there's been no offers for JJ this Summer. Hope he stays.

All feels very quiet on incoming at the moment. If nobody leaves, I'd still like to see a right back and striker in before the Reading game.

Does it? Got a link?

The article I found from 13 hours ago says they're more willing to let him go out on loan *in general*, which I assume wouldn't be to us

I didn't read it quite like that

I read it that they are possibly open to loaning him out this season

If it is a loan, I think it makes it far less likely to be us, as I'm not sure they'll wanna loan him to League One

I think our best chance remains it being a permanent deal, because nobody else seems to have any money

Plenty of time left but I wouldn't be surprised if we start the season as we are. The Prem clubs are only just getting warmed up and I'm sure we're looking to them to supplement with loans.

Agreed. There's no value to them to loan him to us. He's clearly too good for L1 so wouldn't benefit and it wouldn't raise his value; he'd be a year down on his contract.

Our best hope is that they want to sign someone for £30m which Stansfield would cover in terms of FFP accounting.

Might be they think they can get a much better loan fee from us than from Champ clubs.

They might get an extra 500k or something but I think it would be very bad business for them to loan him to League One, personally, just can't see it.

yea, they will want a loan that would increase his value, particuarly as it seems they are open to selling at the right price, that could happen in league one but more likely in the champ

Unless they were in real crap under FFP they are probably doing alright.

Bought Palhinha for £20m in '22 on a 5 year deal, sold him 2 years later for £42m. So around £30m of profit banked this summer currently. Just depends how much of that £30m was needed to keep them below the threshold.

They had also sold Mitrović for something like £50m last summer. So it does seem like they should be okay for FFP.

Opens up a loan to buy perhaps, where we give them a high loan fee and pay them more next year to get him on a permanent which would give them the value they want, across 2 FFP seasons too.

On the flip side

32m on Emile Smith Rowe
7m on Jorge Cuenca
20m+ on McTominay

They are spending money too
