It seems a strange one that when Stansfield was playing up top last season, we were constantly told that he sees himself more of a number 10 or wide forward. Alfie May has played up top on his own, and off another striker while at Charlton, but he's been fine up top on his own here, getting 4 goals in 4 games. Surely the answer is to play Stansfield off May or wide left, and then let them rotate a bit where needed. Moving May to play Stansfield up top seems a weird one to me. It's like CD is creating a problem where there really shouldn't be one. Either way, given a few games I'm sure they will work out how to play together.
Ricky BlottoRicky BlottoI wasn't knocking either of them, just the system itself.
For me, you have to keep May doing exactly what he's been doing. Shifting May out to cater for Stansfield seems very wrong.
I think this competition is a great place to be trying things to be honest.
Very true. I wonder if Jay has come in and said his favourite position is 9, so CD is now trying to see if he can make that work or not.
He spent all last season telling us he wasn't a number 9. I doubt it's that, could just be CD trying something out. I hope it's not a long term plan.
Needed big Thor in-between the two of them.
