Nobody is being ultra critical but I think the excitement about how we've done so far is over the top, I don't think we're attacking particularly well at all.
No, we're not. But pretty sure most people have said that and it's encouraging that we're still managing to pick up wins despite it, no?
Bluesince62 F.E.A.Yeah, thought Wright and the Celtic lad were the two best players for us.
Ha ha, I thought they were two of our poorest players. All about opinions I guess.
League 1 champions last season (Portsmouth) drew 3-3 at home to Fulham Academy in their first Trophy game. Fulham played with 10 men the whole second half too.
Champions the season before that, Plymouth, also drew their first Trophy game at home, to Bristol Rovers.
2021/2 season, eventual champions Wigan also managed a draw at home in their first Trophy game, to Wolves Academy (the latter also won the shootout).
2020/1 season champions Hull messed up the sequence by losing their first Trophy match, also at home, to Leicester City Academy.
Back on sequence, Coventry, champions in 2019/20 season, drew at home to Walsall in their first Trophy match.
You have to go back 6 years to find when the eventual champions of L1 won their first Trophy game at home, this was Luton who beat Brighton Academy 2-1.
Nikola Zigic- FEANobody is being ultra critical but I think the excitement about how we've done so far is over the top, I don't think we're attacking particularly well at all.
"I thought we played pretty badly and it went the way both of our other home games could have gone.
We've not been convincing at home yet in any of the four games. Nice football at times but look toothless.
Better away from home.
I'm also really unconvinced by all of the wingers, especially Wright. We've downgraded out wide, upgraded everywhere else."
I was referring to your comment about picking out Wright. It's pretty critical of a player who only arrived a week ago and has so far played 1 and 1/2 games of football. Maybe ultra-critical was a bit much but I don't see how you can be unconvinced by someone you've barely seen play.
We've scored in every game this season bar Fulham; 10 goals in seven games. I'd hardly say we're toothless. Last season we were toothless and went many games without scoring, sometimes many games in a row.
Personally, I don't think it's over the top to believe we're doing well. We're third in the league, winning games consistently and have lost once in seven games, which was to premier league opposition. There are areas to be improved upon and I think most of the happy-clappers (myself included) recognise that.
Nikola Zigic- FEAAgree with that.I thought we played pretty badly and it went the way both of our other home games could have gone.

We’re playing ok but moving the ball too slowly and taking too many touches. With more space and time on the ball in pre season we could move the ball quicker v Rangers and pressed high v Albion and turned the ball over. League games have shown it’s harder to both when the game is played with more intensity.
More one touch football and the willingness to sometimes concede possession is needed. It will happen I’m sure

We've got a lot of attacking talent, and are so much better at possession than we used to. But I'm not sure yet who in the squad is going to provide all the assists we're going to need. (i'm not expecting anyone to be the next De Bruyne though)
I can see Willumsson and Stansfield linking up well. Leonard also played very well as a creative 10 according to Northampton fans, so that might be interesting to see.
Yeah Leonard has just got it. Him and Pail are an outstanding 2 at this level. We should be dominating the ball
