TGH did OK at right back, would look even better playing a whole match with Paik, Bielik, Cochrane starting and Stansfield ahead of him on the right instead of May.

Serious contender to start ahead of Sampsted until Laird is back

Oh, is Laird not the weak link any more then?

Seems like only...before Saturday, that he was the weak link.

(Not you, but plenty of people on SHA).

To be fair it was probably exacerbated last night by Sampsted not being available either. We will get a chance to see what he can do for a few games now.

Khela on the other hand, I never want to see at left-back again. Not his fault - he is not a left-back in a million years. I don't mind seeing him get a chance in midfield if that's his best position, let's see what he can do. But as a left-back, I've seen enough.

I thought the criticism was ridiculous. The main problem with him is not ability but injuries.

Not just injuries - his decision making in the final third is also questionable. He does all the hard work but can’t deliver the final ball when needed.

It is, you're right, but he does so much to get us into those positions in the first place and that work seems to be underappreciated

I'm hoping now he's injured for the foreseeable future (shock) we play Cochrane to his strengths more, and that'll get more out of Hansson too and still give us a full-back attacking very high up the pitch.

This is the key for me as well now. Cochrane has a reputation for being a good attacking force. TGH was coming into midfield last night so we'll need the left-back to provide the natural width if we continue down that way. Hansson gets isolated as it stands and becomes a little easy to negate, but if he has an overlapping full-back dragging a defender down the line then it opens up a lot of the space inside for him to come inside and shoot / dribble if he wishes.

I do prefer TGH playing in the midfield, looked good against Wigan but he did okay last night. Good to have TGH who can play in multiple positions.

Yep - it's why we've got him in, a utility player that's actually decent in his various roles. Thought he was fine last night.

At times I thought he looked like he had his boots on the wrong feet.

I think I'm just going to shut up and wait until the Wrexham game. I'm clearly way off the consensus at the moment.

Consistently correct and proven right.
Nah, not really.
I'm probably just over compensating for 'em and the fact we have a new manager and 17 new players to integrate. Every time we play it feels like it isn't the settled side yet. I'm just confident that it will come right, we have too much quality for it not to. Best league 1 squad ever? on paper, I'd say so.

I thought he did ok first half particularly stepping inside into midfield.

Second half attacking the Tilton I thought he was very awkward and not comfortable at all.

Hopefully he doesn't have to fit in there too often.

Khela should have gone out on loan. On the topic of left backs, who is our Under 21 left back?

Stoyan Pergelov
Nikola Zigic- FEA

He’s not suited to be an attacking right back in a footballing side tbf. He’ll end up 4th choice midfielder and 3rd choice right back. A squad filler, which is fine.
It’s the 2 wide men and number 10 that need to click. Pretty much everything else when Laird is fit is fine. The keepers can both do better than we’ve seen I hope, too

I’m not convinced they can in all honesty. They were signed for their ability with their feet more than anything else.
Tell you what that crack is really moreish.

Sampsted and Wright did well on the right when they came on, be a big test for them against Wrexham

It's because he takes chances, he may lose the ball but he may create a goal

The same people that criticise him for taking a chance to make something happen then say stop pissing around pissing around with the ball at the back.

You can never win with them, maybe they just hate football
