Tbh i think the football press don't even understand how it works .After the game last night SKY,BBC,and Google had the table as 3 points to Walsall W, and 0 Blues L.They've all now changed the reult to a draw ,with Blues getting 1 point , and Walsall getting the bonus point for winning the shootout.
Rab C NesbittSimple question but seen a lot saying we didn’t lose.
Others saying Walsall won on pens.
So did we lose?
Yes or no…..
Would two losing draws (2 points) be better than a winning draw and a defeat?
SpikeOf course we did. We lost on penalties. They won on penalties. In each game there has to be a winner. 3 points for winning in 90 minutes. 2 points for winning on pens. It’s a good system for group games. I like itYes.
We lost.

We lost on penalties.
Why did we get a point then?
Like someone said, like 2 competitions in one night. Drew the game, lost the pen comp.
Even one bloke on the telly on SSN said Walsall through on pens. You'd have thought them buggers should know, it's their job.
Thought it's a daft way to do things at first, but if they are insisting on group stages, probably a good idea in the end.
TandyWe lost on penalties.
Why did we get a point then?
You have to look at it as 2 separate games in the same night.
3 points up for grabs over the 90 mins, either 2 or 1 point for the pelantys if no bugger wins in 90.
Thought it was balls at first, but probably is pretty good on reflection.
Like boxing, Walsall won on points. Though no one goes out because of it.
TandyThey’re the rules. We lost on penalties.
Why did we get a point then?
3 points for winning in 90 minutes
2 points for winning on pens
1 point for losing on pens
0points for losing in 90 minutes. There has to be a winning and losing side. We lost. I’m not having a dig at us, I still love us. But we lost on pens
Super HansShit rules for a shit trophy.
You won't be saying that when we beat the vile babbies in the final.
I will trust me. I want to win it, but my god it's a shit trophy
It's actually most likely Ice Hockey. If regular season games are drawn at full time, they go to 3v3 over time, followed by a shootout if a golden goal isn't scored. Regardless of whether the game is decided in over time it the shoot out, each team receives 1 point with the 'winner' getting a bonus point.
