Blimey - when you think back to how close to the brink we got. Thank eff for Knighthead and all those who got them to us.

The really hilarious thing is that per my contacts in HK, Bassini did a more thorough due diligence than Maxco…

Bloody Hell! 😁 And yet more than a few thought Maxco were the way forward!

TBF to them though, it's difficult to overstate just how desperate a situation we were in as fans back then, even though it's so relatively recent.

A drowning man and all that....so whilst trying not to be a total happy clapper, thanking my/our lucky stars right now.

He was being used as a puppet by Sullivan though really right?

I'd actually forgotten that. As I said, drowning man.
Never believed for one second all that guff about it being a way for his lad to own a club, I mean, really?

Yes, the EFL wouldnt let him be involved he wouldn’t pass the owners and directors test.

I think he would still show up somehow in a “consultancy” position but there would be a lot of scrunity so he would quickly disappear 🫠

I don’t think he was.

A lot of the people pushing that theory said Sullivan would come in when he was allowed to sell West Ham; he’s done neither.

Bassini namechecked Sullivan in one of the legendary talksport interviews

I think Moxley was of that view as well.

I think there was at least some truth to it because Sullivan never did anything at all to refute it.

He hasn’t sold West Ham ‘cos that Czech bloke hasn’t gone ahead and purchased his shares more than anything though, isn’t it?

At the time loads said the same, grasping at straws - I was more of the opinion he said nothing as he was laughing too hard at the very idea of it.

He either wasn’t trying to save us, or he was trying to give us Bassini, either way, more evidence that he just loves the club.
Happy Clapper

Probably only so he could figure out what assets to strip first
