Roughly what can be afforded to drop and still get automatic promotion.
That's 16 defeats or 24 draws or a combination of the two.
I don't see us dropping more than 30 which would see us finish on 108 points.
Will know a lot more after the next 5 games
No chance at all we only drop 30 points or less. I dont think anyone has ever done that over a 46 game season.
Let’s see how we get through the next five games before we start discussing barely dropping 30 points all season. Wrexham, Rotherham, Peterborough, Huddersfield, Charlton is about as tough a five game spell as this league could possibly throw at us.
If we come through that run with ten points I’ll be content tbh.
Hagley BlueNo chance at all we only drop 30 points or less. I dont think anyone has ever done that over a 46 game season.
I don't think there has ever been a side where the gulf in have and have nots has been so great though.
Wrexham in national league got 111 which is probably similar to our our status between them and the rest of the division at that time.
Dropping 30 points would be something like 6 defeats and 6 draws. Having an end of season record of 34/6/6 feels like an achievable realistic target.
Bit too early to speculate yet. Need at least 10 games under our belt to get good data. Clearly Davies needs to a) tidy up defensive lapses b) turn possession into goal threats c) work out his best combination of players.
I am sure he knows what he is doing. This guy is doing a great job.

Nah Wrexham had a league one level squad in the national league, it would be like us having a prem squad in league one.
111 points would be ridiculous, I'm going to say now unachievable. Unless we come out the next 5 with 12/13 points which I don't think is happening
We are going to be playing a bit of catch up through the season. There will be another couple of breaks in October/November and a poor Winter might see a couple of away games postponed.
Probably best to look at points accumulated rather than league position. 2 points per game, regardless of league position, should be the aim.
Managers tend to look at blocks of games in terms of targets. 2 pts per game would be 3 wins, draw, and loss per block of 5. Effectively, 1 defeat per month. Ideally, we won't want to lose 9 games but just an indication of the most we could probably afford to lose.
I think 9 defeats would be fairly poor.
Portsmouth last year only lost 5 league games.
Plymouth, Ipswich and sheff Wednesday all lost less than that when they went up.
I understand that a record of 28/9/9 would be 93 points and most likely see us promoted but I think dropping points in over a third of games would be a little bit disappointing to CD, the players and the owners.
If we come out of the next 5 with 10/12 points then we will have the league wrapped up by Xmas.
I think we will come very close to or beat the points record myself.
After this 5 game run I can see us going on a 7-10 winning run.

The other day you said something about if we don't win the league it will be the worst managerial performance ever. Football rarely works like you are suggesting, I don't understand why you seem hell bent on setting us up to fail. You always seemed like one of the more rational posters in the past.

Wolves dropped points in 15 games (33%) and hold the record for the best ever season at this level

I said failure to get promoted and I think it would be.
I can't see where any mitigating factor could realistically come from, that at the end of the season you could point to and say we didn't get promoted because of X.
We've broke the league spending record 3 times, we have spent more than most championship clubs this window, we've signed top flight European players with continental tournament experience, we have the wealthiest owners in the division, the best infrastructure, revenue that is more than half the teams in the division above, the team is getting fantastic backing both home and away, there is a wave of momentum at the club, the ownership is into a second year and is settled.
If blues failed to get promoted this season it's only because the players/manager have failed very badly.
As I said, I think we get promoted, and we break the points record.

And imo this squad is better than that wolves one (David Davis played 18 times and I don't think he would get that many in this side).
