...just announced on the app that it's opening against Stockport 👍

You would think someone would proof read the announcement...

Get ready for any exciting new matchday experience at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

🤔😤
Planning permission was only given on 21 Nov, so I guess that’s what they have been waiting for before opening. Granted for 2 years…

Do you think the George kicked off about it? Must cost them a fortune in lost sales.

Maybe the club have an agreement to kick them back some cash. The local pubs must have felt the impact of the increased spending at the ground pre game.

Can't see any objections on the application. Maybe having so many more around the ground for so much longer will actually benefit the George?

Not sure if this link works...

I reckon it will do them good, it’ll bring people to that area of the ground. We are getting about 25% more fans for every home game than we generally have for over a decade. The pubs are doing just fine.

Correct, though nothing to do with objections from anyone

Never seems to be a shortage of conviviality en route from town. Cant see that changing. Unfortunately. I like a bit of peace and quiet with my half of mild.

Correct. As I said, there were no objections visible on the application.

Just the standard timescales for temporary consent for a few containers- probably the same as for a 60k stadium development (for the formal application purposes that is).

Thats because:

Without the club, I doubt the George would be standing so I doubt there'd be any obligation felt. I haven't been in either this season but both the George and the Roost look as busy as ever to me when I've passed them.

I know, just confirming, no objections, it would have been done much sooner but for some issues related to our side, not the council

They wouldn’t have grounds to object really. Can’t stop a stadium having a “bar”

They’re probably getting more in this season than ever. I doubt those that use the George will go the fan park to be honest. I won’t use it either, that’s cos I hate plastic pints glasses

Dunno about that - we said as soon as we can coerce a family member into having the effing dog for the day, we'll just go straight to the ground and spend all our time and money in there, pre match. Suppose people have old habits and old haunts they like to visit though, which is good, hate to lose any more boozers around the ground.

The George, Roost, Bainsys and Cricketers were all rammed for weekend games when we used to get sub 20k crowds, with the extra footfall some of those people will want places to go for a drink. The last time we were getting these kinds of crowds regularly, there was Clements, Garrison, Sportsman, Queen Vic, Black Horse and Bordesley Labour Club all open.
