I've watched 2 games tonight in the CL and both penalties should have resulted in red cards. It's debatable whether Dortmund's was a penalty earlier but because he's give it it had to be a red card. He gave a yellow. Are you allowed not to make a genuine attempt for the ball now and be last man and get away with it if it's in the box?

Hasn't the 'double jeopardy' thing been in the rules for a couple of years?

It's a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity outside the box, but only a penalty and a yellow if it's in the box to avoid 'double punishment'.

If it's in the box and you are making a genuine attempt to play the ball. I actually do agree with it.

I agree with it, you’re not denying a goal scoring opportunity if you’re giving it them straight back via a penalty, if it’s not cynical and there’s a genuine attempt then I think it makes sense

The Atletico player pulled him down by the shoulders, so it wasn't an attempt to play the ball. I think that should have been a red. Hell, he might have been yellowed in rugby for it!

Ref has no chance of keeping everyone happy in a game like this though...
