Called it (although let’s be honest everyone knew it was going to be)
Bit like calling that tomorrow will be Friday. We were always going to hit the call up threshold.
👍
No way was CD going to pass up the chance to give most of them a 2 week break after the last 2 months of constant Sat Tues games
We'll deal with the madness of the final week congestion when all it will impact on is league points records
Everyone including the staff need a rest. Schedule has been relentless. Will prob mean we have to play a B team against Blackpool or Stevenage away, but it's worth it.
Yeah - never in doubt really. We can give the players a nice break and by the time we're having to squeeze a few games into a week, we'll already be Champions so we can rotate heavily.
There's two ways we could avoid a 4 game week, but both depend on us being able to agree dates with the opposition.
Option 1
Move Stevenage game slightly forward to 26/03 (This might not be possible if its still classed as the international break)
Play Blackpool 29/04 or 30/04
Option 2
Play Stevenage game on Thursday 24/04
Move Mansfield game to Sunday 27/04
Play Blackpool on Wed 30/04
Hopefully it will be one of these two options. I don't want us to have a 4 game week.
The 26th March was something I thought we could do as the Iceland lads finsih their duty on the Sunday and maybe Stansfield isnt involved in England U21s... we'd be without Paik for sure
Have we ever won 12 points in a week? If not, it'll be a fun new record to go for.
Honestly think the fans could do with a break as well, been constant Sat-Tue-Sat for weeks now
Love the Blues but it’s verging on burnout with so many games, can imagine the players and staff are exhausted
We're 14 points clear of 2nd and 3rd, with a game in hand over the latter.
Stevenage are 12 short of the playoffs and 15 clear of the drop.
Chances are the game is going to be a dead rubber, other than us trying to set records.
I think there are grounds there to suggest to the League that the game be postponed till after the regular season end. Especially as it's the League's fault for not mirroring the fixture list of the division above, despite the majority of teams being affected.
It couldn't mirror the championship though because every league one side had at least 3 vertu games in midweek and at least one additional FA cup tie to be played on a weekend when championship games happen.
Just a cautionary note, after the last international break we played Shrewsbury, came back somewhat rusty, and lost.
Lets hope lightning doesn't strike twice, as we play Shrewsbury again after this coming break
