Ok so explain how we went from 7th to 17th after the World Cup last season. We'd have fell away regardless.
The chances of us finishing 8th with that squad was 0. No way Eustace would have kept up that form.
Look at the away form, it's consistently been shit for years
It's amazing how many people are sure we wouldn't have done any better than we have had we kept Eustace but also so sure we would have done much better had Mowbray not fallen ill.
One point that many people have missed on this thread (or I’ve just got it wrong which is possible) is that all players that were signed on a 3 year deal or longer before September 2023 are exempt from SCMP rules, ie they don’t count towards the calculation. Therefore regardless of what the players themselves want, it’s very advantageous the club to keep them. Yes SCMP can be offset by owner equity, but obviously it’s preferable to minimise that.
That’s Laird, Buchanan, Sanderson, Bielik, Roberts and Dembele for us. So if you sell them and replace then you’re essentially talking a supplementary SCMP hit. Albeit it may help with FFP the following year because of the amortisation effect. There’s a bit to consider.

I have a funny feeling most of our senior players will leave but it is not a problem, they can be replaced. If they want to stay then they must fight for the badge
