The way Spurs were playing around the back in the first half was so reminiscent of Blues, causing themselves problems and giving Man City opportunities.
Saw this from Bundesliga 2, thankfully we haven't managed to do this yet.

My reading of it is he saw the foul, went to blow, saw Haaland recover, waved play on, saw the pass and thought Grealish was offside so blew for the free kick as their advantage was immediately over. Which would have been decent refereeing had Grealish actually been off side. Either way he should have waited for the linesman to flag, or var to rule for offside and then bring it back for the free kick if appropriate.
Part of me thinks the ref maybe got swept up in Cityβs urgency at set pieces and the general frenetic pace of the game and thought he was actually helping the game flow. Poor refereeing however you slice it though.
