BlueSteveRooney may be a better manager of better players but its the managers job to adapt to the players not the other way round.
The fairest criticism of Rooney is that far from getting the best out of his players, we’re going backwards. He’s a football person and if we can recognise I’m absolutely sure he can. There are some reasonable excuses - No forward as a focal point, injuries - but most of the players are playing worse. Needs to change.
Not sure about Deeney - completely unproven.
But what I will say is this - I think if Rowett came back in, it would be what the club needs. The ability to grind out results, but also having an amount of intelligence in how to set his teams up.
