Why? It’s only fair to compare him against an absolutely shit manager?
20:40, Thu 28 Dec
Because the two came in under similar circumstances with a similar front foot philosophy

Comparing rooney to the long list of post prem managers does not put him in a good light

Only zola with a worst record and when you consider peoples thoughts on the likes of mad dog cotterill, pep clotet, clarke, harry etc all with a far better win records

Even going back to the proper dark days of gary pendry 20.83% and jim bond 25.4 Rooney is currently behind even them

Win %

Zola - 8.3
Rooney - 15.4
Karanka - 21.1
Cotteril - 25.9
Pep - 27.7
Clark - 28.4
Bowyer - 28.8
Redknap - 30.8

Surprised Clark is so high.

Even karanka has a better win rate and he was atrocious - refused to change tactics even tho everyone could see they didn’t work

CEO wouldn’t sack him so the boss flew in from China and gave him the bullet?

History to repeat itself ?, I hope not, really want Rooney to succeed

It's not really worth doing those stats at this stage is it? If he wins tomorrow he goes in just behind Bowyer.

It wouldn't be enough games to judge him on then either.

Those stats only reinforce how stupid it was to sack Rowett and Eustace.

In terms of win % Rowett is our best manager for the last decade with Eustace in second, a fraction ahead of Monk.

The problem is never sacking managers who’ve achieved no promotions and produce mainly poor football. It’s always who you replace them with

Ignore the numbers and judge by what you have seen so far and how much more time it needs to get better, assuming it will.

Win today would be massive in calming a few nerves although it probably won’t change many opinions.
