Today i found out that there is a Civil Nuclear Police force and they are there to protect our Nuclear Facilities. Never ever heard about this before.

My mate works for them. Been there 14 years. Never made an arrest, but his third day of work ever the force were asked to assist in the search for Derick Bird (remember him?) in the Cumbria shootings, as they were the only armed force close by.

Try breaking in to Sellafield or Aldermaston if you want to meet them.

Looking at careers stuff for my daughter, she wants to be in a police type role but doesn't want to be a beat copper, and the old facebook algorithim picked up i was looking at police jobs and showed me an advert for it.

In a rather brilliant bit of punning, the coat of arms of the Atomic Energy Authority has an upside-down triangle on it - which is, in heraldic terms, called a pile.

There's a few specialised areas on the edge of the police and military to do with defence and other areas.
I think they are mostly much duller than they sound. The security at Sellafield is mostly checking workers' passes.
Also if anything does happen it's probably a radiation leak.

I quite like the idea of being a cyber security expert. The sort who monitors GCHQ or similar to see that nothing is going wrong. I have no relevant experience wither in computers or in security in general. I just think it would be a sweet job and a very good way to get dates with attractive Russian and/or Chinese ladies.

wasn't there someone on here who used to work at GCHQ or was it just one of Magnas stories ?

Was set up by Tony Benn when energy secretary I think. I'm old enough to have been around then and (still just) young enough to remember stuff. Until someone looks it up and proves me wrong obvs.

My ex brother in law was a military police dog handler. Nice bloke but the dog was definitely the brains of the outfit.

In other, more bizarre “random stuff no one knows”:
