NeilMWell the covenant to stop land between Lichfield and Crewe being sold was only lifted last week so I doubt there will be anything happening quickly with regards land sales there, and the covenant for land between Crewe and Manchester has yet to be lifted.
I'll be surprised if any of the plans with private investment get off the ground, but lets wait and see.
It is possible this is just maneuvers to keep it "alive" as an issue for after the General Election, then hope that Labour will take it on.

I cant see it either. Current HS2 is going to come in around £119Bn. Line to Leeds probably similar, companies would never see ROI.
