Best: Brugge - let everyone get on with it but you knew they were there. Honourable mention to Bristol for the day we stayed up there, they easily could have caused an issue at the front at full time, but again appreciated it for what it was.

Worst: WMP seem happy to antagonise and then let people scrap. South Yorkshire, horrible people.
Eamon Dolan wasn't arrested, he was escorted off the pitch because a couple of blues fans jumped over and joined him for a jog. The coppers there have never had any sense of humour.

Years after Hillsborough, a mounted syp killed an away fan. A Swansea lad was trampled to death in that alley down the side of Millmooor.

Any thoughts on past experience?

Not football related.

I was riding through Birmingham City Centre late 1960's on my Lambretta around 11,00 pm.

Austin 1100 Police Panda car pulls me over. Two plod step out and say they have stopped me for no real light working, which i stated it was in fact working.

One plod kick the light to smash it, the other plod grabs the fromt brake lever with both hands, and pulls it so hard it snaps the brake cable. They then book me for no rear light and defective fromt brake. In court and £30 Fine.

Nice people.

In Canada (Medicine Hat) in 2005 a friend was drunk to the point he couldn't stand up, the police were taking him away to the drunk tank, a friend tapped the police officer on the shoulder and was in the middle of saying could he just take the guy home. The police officer turned around, drew his pistol and whipped him with it twice. He had to have 8 stitches in his head. The police claimed self defence and there was no further action.

The less travelled don't know how tame the UK police are IMO.

Yeah Brugge and Bristol especially were superb that day before and after the game. Really helps the day as well pass peacefully.

Sounds like the Gene Hunt approach to policing in Life on Mars. You'd think they couldn't get away with that sort of thing these days.

What do you expect, riding a Lambretta?

Should have got a motorbike, they wouldn't have caught you then.

Remember the steward at blues about 25 years ago who looked like Bob Cryer?

Agreed - best were Brugge.

We went over on the ferry Wednesday night. Arrived about 9.30am, in the square by 10.30.

My heart sank. Thousands of Blues fans, drinking strong Belgian beer and the kick off was 9+ hours away. I remember thinking "This could be a disaster."

No trouble at all and I put that down to the superb policing.

Worst were WMP.

First match against Villa after promotion to PL. I was walking down Witton Lane from the Holte Inn end.

Something must have happened behind us near the pub and a wall of coppers charged towards us waving batons. I stood still, arms over my head waiting for them to pass.

One copper hit me on the thigh with his baton, I fell over and several of his mates trampled over me, on their way to whatever was happening behind us.

Got back to the car after the match and it wouldn't open. The key had been damaged and wouldn't open the car.

I made a complaint, was interviewed and received a letter of apology and they paid for a replacement electronic key. I could probably have got compensation as well, but couldn't be arsed.

Best.....Preston,treat you with respect which is very rare in my experiences.

Worst. Bristol late 80s and West Brom late 80s.
Total bastards
