Yes Mothers had some huge acts I wanted to go see Chicago (Transit Authority) in 68 but I was only 14 and got a resounding NO from my parents...bummer.
I was at that too. My first gig was Wizzard at the Odeon 17th March 1974, supported by Raymond Froggett.
RWBlueTaste at Mothers in Erdington 1969, at that time it was the best Rock club in the world and over a furniture shop. When a top group were on, it was so packed, you could not get your hands out of your pockets.
A mate of mine still had his old ticket stubs from mothers. Some of the now world known bands he had seen there was fantastic

An old guy I know used to help run it. He told me stories of many a household name playing there but said Elton John was the biggest arse that he's ever had to deal with and Peter Green is the greatest person ever to pick up a guitar.
It's too old for me to remember it but the place seemingly doesn't get due credit, very typical Brum.
