Nikola ZigicStechyBlueBBC WM had someone on this morning talking about this being the "biggest Derby, but Wolves aren't in the black country according to some" and the caller said, "well what do we call it if Wolves aren't in the black country.... the west midlands Derby, i dunno"?
I was expecting the host to say "no because of course that would be Birmingham Villa". But no, glossed over like they'd never heard of us. Continued to discuss Baggies v WBA as some mega event. I get it, it's a tense affair but that's about it.
Well ours is the Birmingham derby. I’ve never heard anyone refer to Blues v villa as the West Midlands Derby.
It's the Second City Derby. Fact
Birmingham derby could possibly make the top 30. My top ten derbies for passion and atmosphere;
Raja v Wydad
Al Ahly v Zamalek
Boca v River
Corinthians v Palmeiras
Cruz Azul v Americas
Fener v Gala
Panathanaikos v Olympiacos
AC v Inter
Rangers v Celtic
Betis v Sevilla
There's almost zero away fans. If the away team scored first the grounds are silent.
Pathetic KO time though. Games kicking off in the morning is crazy.

Gotta be honest I've never heard of half of them
Tom TheProject BradyIt's top 10 in the UK probably, but its not even the biggest derby in the West Mids.
In no order I'd go:
Blues-Vile
Rangers-Celtic
Millwall-Hammers
Forest-Derby
Newcastle-Sunderland
Liverpool-Man Utd
Cardiff-Swansea
Baggies-Wolves
Sheffield
Blackburn-Burnley
Strictly speaking it could be argued that Derby\Forest and Lpool\ManU are rivalries not derbies.
Nottm forest v Notts county, Lpool v Everton and Manu v Manc should be their 'derbies' by definition of being
local\nearest to each other
I'd throw in the Brizzle derby, definitely a ' all police leave cancelled' derby game
( if crowd trouble is a barometer for a passionate derby)

Take the bigot brothers out then and replace them with the Soweto derby. Pirates v Chiefs is a huge one and the 95,000 crowd is split 50/50.

I am going to Betis v Sevilla in April.
I’d add Roma v Lazio to your list above!
I don’t think it’s bigger than ours with Villa personally, but obviously blues fans would say that.
The difference is there's quite a few albion that hate villa more. For us and them lot there's only one answer.
Still a much more feisty derby compared to a lot of others though, certainly above any London or North West derbies.

Boca v River for me. Makes the others look like pansies.

CharcyMiamiviceAgreed.
Comfortably in the top 10.
Comfortably in the WORLD's top ten?
Comfortably?
Yeah, "world" is a bit much. No dispute it's a good'un tho
what about the anglo/welsh derby chester v wrexham..

Listing only two sides of the Istanbul triangle is poor form. Beşiktaş hate Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe and are hated in return just as much as the garishly-coloured pair do each other.
Conspicuous lack of mad Serbs here too.
All I care about is Albion having 4 players sent off and it ending in a draw so they have the replay a few days after we play there. They might take their eye off the ball our game.
