Positive: Wright had his man on toast time and time again and looks a baller.

Negative: Over reliance on a game plan designed to fatigue the opposition. Great when it works, but if they don't press we need another way of unlocking them. Positive: That said it only failed by fine margins tonight given the amount of chances second half.

Awful result, I honestly thought it would be a question of how many we'd score against a div 2 side making 6 changes. We have been pretty poor at home so far.

You've never said anything positive about us in your entire history what made you think it would be good? Do you not learn from your previous takes and reevaluate your position?

Positives:
-Iwata looked solid albeit wish he showed for the ball a little more.
-TGH showed solid versatility, although RB is clearly not his best role he did much better than the other full back which I'll come to in the negatives.
-Davies put out a solid showing and looked tidy.
-Yokoyama is electric.
-Despite a poor performance we still had complete control of the game with plenty of shots and just conceded a poor goal.
-Stansfield scored his pen - can't imagine the abuse if he didn't.
-We had something like 8 players unavailable today and still put up decent stats and could've won the game at the end (albeit would've been harsh on Walsall).
-We've got 2 weeks to review and work on this, and it wasn't in the league.

Negatives:
-We were far, FAR too slow with the ball for 70 mins of that game. Walsall set up in a really solid 5-3-2 shape which meant we were never going to break them down through the middle. Our lack of natural full backs didn't help this at all, but quicker play and more switches of play would've lead to more chances.
-We weren't brave enough with forward passes. As much as 80% possession is a "wow" stat, I think once you get above 70% you're being wasteful with the ball unless you are completely and utterly dominating an opponent. There was plenty of movement in the forward line and we weren't brave enough to try risky passes tonight.
-Alfie May & Jay Stansfield partnership take 1 failed. Surprised May started behind Stansfield and I don't think it worked. It worked even less well with Alfie wide right. I want my striker to be greedy - but that's why they're strikers and not wingers. Think Stansfield would've been the better option wide right when Wright came off.
-Brandon Khela, IS NOT, a left back. He's a solid young prospect but my lord he was exposed at Charlton and should've been subbed at half time. Can't believe Davies left him on for the second half - and it lead directly to their goal. Everything in the first half down his side broke down. Really am not trying to criticise the lad, he's a kid playing out of position, I'm just really surprised we continued to persist with him there.

I understand why Ben Davies, was played left Cb because the boss wanted to see how he performed there. Personally I’d have played him lb.

He’s a good ball carrier and he’s left footed so for me that was the easy solution. I thought things only started to look up for us when the changes were made.

I was much happier when we started to get the ball forward quicker. It made it harder for Walsall and we looked more threatening.

No it’s not what I am saying!!!

I am saying possession football in front of the opposition who have dropped back into shape is not gonna cut it.

Take risks play thru the lines.

Wingers when 1 on 1 run their full back.

I don’t care what anyone says we definitely haven’t clicked yet, perhaps due to the influx of players.

Remember Leicester and Southampton last season? Both played this system superbly and
Tore us apart at times, movement and pace and worked teams to then quickly play thru them.

As yet I don’t think we have torn teams apart especially at home, yes we may have worn them down but it’s a big ask to score all our goals after 80 minutes

To be fair, who else would you have played at left back? Cochrane needed a rest, Buchanans injured and Khela didn't play too badly there against a better side in Charlton.

Khela was bloody awful at Charlton bar the goal.

I’m concerned Paik, Leonard and Iwata are too similar. All excellent players, but we don’t really have a differential in the middle of the park.

Leonard and Paik ain’t the same player, nowhere near.

He’s generally more on the money than you are though tbf.

It’s still early days but four home games in they have all been somewhat underwhelming we have been too easy to defend against too much of our play is in areas that don’t hurt the opposition.

Pitch is too small

Consistently correct and proven right.

He said similar which he isn’t wrong. All technically good but I’d agree there’s little to choose between them.

It’s not like we’re talking about chalk and cheese here.

The manager has hung the kid out to dry again.

It destroys the blend of the team with him at left back everything is backwards and slow with him.

It’s still early days but four home games in they have all been somewhat underwhelming we have been too easy to defend against too much of our play is in areas that don’t hurt the opposition.

Have the home games been underwhelming because fans are expecting too much?

We had four debutants out last night. We've got four players from last season in our squad; a new manager and a new squad. It's going to take more than 3 games.

It seems to me a lot of the criticism comes from the ridiculous expectations we placed on ourselves at the start of the season: "We'll be undefeated the whole season." "We'll win by over 100 points." Etc.

The reaction from a lot of people to last night, especially on twitter, is embarrassing.

As are some of the statements we have already had about how amazing is the manager, players and the way we play.

It's September 4 FFS.

Come back at the end of November.

Two teams who kept the majority of their squads from previous season together. It's September, we're 3rd. Have a coffee and chill.

Glad someone else thinks this, been saying this for ages
