I actually thought Dowell started off well. Was heavily involved down the right and helped set Laird through a couple of times.

However he got that stupid yellow card early on and his level dropped after that.

I'm also prepared to cut him a bit of slack second half - he played the Willumsson role second half which doesn't seem to suit anyone in this formation.

Biggest stage possible?

For this season, and for them especially, yeah. Wembley, televised for the country etc.

I could've been more clear in my thoughts tbf, I'm 5 pints down

Televised internationally. Probably the first time this trophy has been.

Strangely, it suited Willumson in the early part of the season.

Strangely, it suited Willumson in the early part of the season.

We were more gung ho early in the season which suited Willumsson's game. Overloading the attacking areas, giving their defenders more to worry about so Willumsson could pick up pockets of space and take the piss.

The 3-2 Shrewsbury defeat was the worst thing to happen to Willumsson specifically, because it turned Davies into an absolute psychopath determined to never concede a goal ever again. Willumsson's game suffered because of it, regardless of its effectiveness

Agree with most of the comments so far, I was just pleased i got a day out at Wembley with my lad, got to give credit to peterborough they wanted it more, set themselves up really well and scored a couple of great goals (although i was less impressed with 10 of their fans chanting "w****r, w****r" at me when i was standing by myself outside st pancras station yesterday morning minding my own business)
I think most on here wouldn't have started willumson, but hey ho, every manager has that one player that gets a start regardless of form. As for Wembley, like most said, the seat/legroom and view were great, concourse and toilets not so good.
All in all a great season, and i really believe Chris Davies will adapt his thinking/tactics next season.

Reminds me of the time I was called a bald bastard by a Derby fan. Especially baffling as I have a full head of hair

Our legacy won't be losing this final this season though, hopefully it will be setting the all time points total record with at least 4 more wins.

4 more wins will put us one ahead of that lot, who managed 32 in 1972.

Rangers fans also said the same about Wright. That he didn't have the temperament to play in the big games and would have the tendency to disappear when the pressure is on.

The only thing that's embarrassing about this result is the way some fans think we need to rip up the play sheet because of it.

I’ve said it before about Dowell that I’m not convinced that we should sign him. Yes he started well with us but his performances are patchy at best and he can go missing. He may score the odd great goal but overall his contribution isn’t good enough for what we require going forward. His set pieces are mostly ineffective and he lacks physicality and pace and his age means that won’t improve. I’d like us to try to get an upgrade.

Signing loan players is an interesting one IMO. Let’s see how signing TGH and Sampsted work out for next season. And before Stansfield gets dragged into this conversation I consider him a rare exception to that rule and his age and qualities means he has plenty of time to prove himself.

Having said all that maybe I’m just scarred by the Scott Hogan loan - permanent signing.

Diego Fabbrini and Robert Tesche are other prime examples. Perhaps we are scarred from previous loan players getting worse once they get a permanent deal.

And I'll bring you pandiani and forssell never quite worked.

But then you have Muamba and Larsson, so swings and roundabouts.

My final takeaway is that its tough to do anyhing about 2 wonder strikes and we should've rested more players in the 2 games leading up to the final. You do not get a trophy for winning the league with 6 games to go.

Actually you do.

So our next ones might die and finish the career of Steve Carr again by forcing him to overlap every other minute
