Incredible poet/lyricists. Liked a tot, as well. Rest In Peace fella!
A shame, but no great surprise he didn't endure into his 90's.
Jimmy Corkhill gone too, what a day.
The only good news is a mass murderer has also departed.
The timing of his passing as we’re about to enter December.
RIP Shane- oi’ll have an extra whisky for ye tonight.
Oh no! Genuinely a genius and his songs meant so much to me
God Bless, Shane.

Same here mate - my eyes were properly opened to live music as a 14 year old, the night I went to the Powerhouse in the summer of '85, to see the Pogues live for the first time, along with my older brother, Dad and uncle - utter carnage!!!
It's more a surprise he reached 65 in the first place.
He only cut back on booze in the early 1990s to make more time for heroin.
It's been a while since he's even been able to do a Christmas gig.
The last interview I read he sounded in a bad way.
Been trying to think of my favourite song. Not possible, there are so many. Those first 3 albums, what a legacy.
Even that bastard Christmas song is brilliant, spoilt only by its ubiquity.

Twenty minutes later we had our first taste of whiskey.
RIP Shane, The Pogues were a brilliant live band but as others have said it is no surprise.

There's stacks, but I think A Pair Of Brown Eyes has to be his finest.
Red Roses For Me, and Rum, Sodomy & The Lash were two absolute 10/10 albums. Not a weak track on either.
