What the actual eff? Does the guy need a hug?

He needs not to play for the team again. Club captain
Zero leadership
Culpabale for two of the goals
Argued with other players.
effing useless

Who do we play instead though? Aiwu looks just as prone to a mistake? Long has been bombed out? Roberts went off injured?

Sanderson has fell off a cliff since WR has come in but so has the entire defence as a unit.

Sanderson looks like Baresi compared to Aiwu.

He could do with our full backs actually playing as defenders rather than wingers. That would help.

Look. The jury is out on Rooney. But for god sake Sandersons complete lack of defensive ability turned around a moral boosting victory against Plymouth.

He is captain yet capitulates in every match. Get rid to Dion before yet another manager change

After yesterday it would seem the jury is back in court and have given the verdict to the judge. The judge is ignoring it though as the defendant is his mate.

He made no effort whatsoever to cover across for the first, and was way too late in doing so for the third.
He’s a defensive nightmare (as witnessed at Plymouth too)

Don’t know what the answer is though but Leeds will annihilate him.

Sanderson can probably take a bastard throw in too.

When you create tactics that leave the defence continually exposed and thus relentlessly pressured, it's unsurprising that players start to make individual errors. The entirety of our defence (including midfield) has no cohesiveness.

I'm convinced that another manager or a significant change of approach from Rooney, would produce much better performances from us as a defensive unit.

Sanderson is in dire form and looks unhappy but it’s not his sole fault that Stoke, a team who cannot win or score, continually ended up 3 on 3, 4 on 4 and even 4 on 2, and could have scored 7 goals. There is so much space it is ridiculous.

He was captain and centre-half for the second best defence in the division prior to Rooney's appointment. That was without Laird, widely considered by many to be Premier class, for most of the season

I agree - I don't think that Sanderson has become useless overnight, I think the set up is continually exposing the centre backs - not least because as others have pointed out, the full backs are often not defending at all.

What grinds the gears is that this new style was supposed to be both entertaining as well as effective. It is neither, it is the exact opposite. Whatever people thought of Eustace's style, it was better overall because we weren't utter rubbish.

We were pretty cohesive in defence once - it was about 14 games ago.

It wasn’t very exciting at times but it produced results - results that put us in a position that were better than the squad we have.

Now we are in a position that is worse than the squad we have and we have fallen off a cliff with the odd exception.

One thing changed overnight and it wasn’t any of the players. It could just be a coincidence though…

He’s the captain and leader on the pitch he can tell players where he wants them to be. From goal kicks depending on which side there should be two centre backs defending and one fullback. The other fullback is pushed up to win the flick on.

We’ve been using those tactics for weeks now.
