One thing about you can say about Blues is that the more some things change, the more they stay the same. While the team might be on for a record points haul on the pitch and the financials off the pitch go from strength to strength, online its drama once again with Wembley tickets at the heart of i

The vibe is something I’ve bought to the attention of our last 2 CEO’s. Be careful not to lose what has made us what we are, was my message to them as Blues fans themselves. We’ll see down the line how important we are
Really good article as always.
On the STH non- attendance, I do have some sympathy for those fans forced to buy in the Olympic Gallery when there are so many empty seats in a 'better' part of the stadium. The club lose out too as theyve effectively sold at a discount for a reserved seat. Im fully onboard with the yellow card system, albeit obviously we need to consistently sell out for it to be introduced. Only premier league football will do that.
We’ll sell out without Premier League football
We sold just under 19,000 ST's last Summer. Theres lots of matchday tickets available each week, look at the Shrewsbury map, they havent opened the GM Upper. The club needs to sell a few more thousand ST's, to around 21/22,000. Then you can pretty much sell out the rest of the matchday tickets, then put the resales on and who ever wants to resale can. It should work, like the sellouts this season that went to resale.
I dont think we will. Playing Oxford on a Tuesday night in the championship isnt that much more appealing than playing 'insert league one team'. Hope im proven wrong (obviously).
The club had two opportunities to sell more season tickets, half season tickets around Xmas, and when the final was confirmed, a season ticket to the end of the season.
They didn't do this because they were confident of selling out the games at full price.
There were people who scoffed at the idea of us selling out against ANYONE in League One IIRC
If we're doing well next season that midweek ticket against Oxford will be a bit more in demand than the one this season against Cambridge
I dont think they were confident of selling out, I think they were happy keeping the higher price whatever the attendances were.
We had a good Summer last year growing the ST fanbase, but I feel we are little further away that we need to be, I am sure the board realise that too.

A higher ST base, supply and demand needs to be tighter. Must be close to 7,000 seats for General Sale each game, seems like a lot to me. Under 19,000 is decent but could be higher. There are areas of the ground without any ST holders, effectively a closed stand unless demand requires it open.
Like I say, a decent Summer of growth last Year, but this Summer needs to be when the fans and club screw it down. 22,000 STs and then the 3,000 / 4,000 General sale become gold dust.

Another good article Dan, thanks.
I didn't realise Brentford did that, although it makes sense with such a small stadium in the prem.
I travel up from Cheltenham so midweek games are sometimes difficult. I've definitely missed more than 4 this season.
For me the answer is they need to open the ticket selling scheme sooner, even before it's a sellout. That way better seats are available sooner for non STH's.
Better to have an empty GMU than see 500 empty seats in the Kop.
Agreed the crowds this season have defo suprised me not against the top teams in the league but the lower teams who don’t bring many like the other night in the season under fry up untill later in the season we would be averaging around 18/19 thousand so all season the gates have been fantastic so next season we will sell out no problem
