Exactly and his piss poor attempts at tracking back when we lost the ball stood out like a bastard chippies thumb. Sort of expect it from forwards, but a defensive centre mid? nah, just not having it.

Said it on another thread, it reminds me very much of Gerrard’s time at Villa. Took captaincy off Mings, upset a few players and they downed tools on him, particularly in his last game at Fulham. Players are powerful, especially if they can’t be replaced immediately.

That’s a good comparison. A big ‘name’ arrives and starts chucking his weight around, without the coaching ability to back it up. That ‘golden generation’ all expected to just magically be great managers but Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney are all disasters.
