I can see this being either a 3-0 win or a 0-3 defeat. All depends on who gets the first goal but it's definitely the sort of fixture that either side could end up winning comfortably.
mjd2505I hope you're right, but I think it's got huge banana skin potential. They're on a roll, and we're not quite there yet. They will play it like a cup final like every other team does, I only hope we do the same and that gets us across the line. Take any sort of win in it.
Relax, even if we lose, it's absolutely nothing to be worried about. We are going to be ok this season. Enjoy the ride.
It's bonkers to expect us to not drop points anyway. What team in history has ever done that? Arsenal's invincibles drew 12 games.
During Man City's centurion year, they drew 4 and lost 2 games - and that's with 8 less games than we'll play, 24 less points to play for.
Also I'm still not ultimately that bothered if we win the league or not, I'd love to, but I'll only start shitting the bed if it looks like we won't get promoted.

It was a comment on an individual game, not about our whole season, I'm relaxed on that :)
I've been banging this drum for a number of years now.
This is League One not the Championship, though. Different opposition profile.
This isn't arrogance on my part but failing to get promoted this season would probably the biggest managerial failure ever witnessed in England.
As a minimum I'd expect this side to be top 10 championship.
It's an enormous pressure for the group to handle when winning the division is the "minimum" expectation of the footballing world.

Not really a banana skin though is it? They are one of the teams most likely to be up there.
I've been to all four league games this season , and watched the cup games on the box .We were told everybody in league 1(and 2) are long ball lump it in the box merchants .That hasn't happened, all the teams have tried to play the game on the floor. They've all let us have the ball in our own half , but played their own version of a counter press .In fact Reading played a really high press until they got tired.
Apparently though Wrexham play a lot of long ball football ? They work very hard off the ball , concede possession, keep their shape, play on the counter with balls down the channel from long balls .They are good from set pieces and utilise the long throw .It will be like watching a Gary Rowett team .

It can't be called arrogance when it's fans of every other club telling us this (except the championship part - we'll cross that bridge when we get to it).
It's a lot of pressure but I think we've recruited players based on personality as well as ability, so that we do cope with that pressure. We'll be fine come the end of the season, it's just early days for us now.

Nah, they were an unknown. Most predictions had them about mid table, which probably won't be far off. A banana skin in the sense of we will still be fully expected to beat them and it's an early game for us where we're still developing our style and getting used to it, whereas they are very settled, comfortable and effective in theirs.
You were told that by people who think it's still 1995. A lot of us said that that's not the case.
It's also because footballers are a lot more technically able now than then but that's a whole other conversation.
Possession isn't everything but looking at one game or a small number of games in isolation doesn't tell the full story either.
I doubt many teams are successful over a sustained period with just 30% possession, we know this first hand.
The club have done their homework on this and it's exactly why they want a high possession style of play.
I think it's one of the toughest fixtures of the season. I think they'll be top six and we are playing them when their squad is pretty fresh.
Yep, this will be a proper game. On and off the pitch I suspect.
