Why shielding ball out of play is not obstruction.

It's not obstruction because Law 12 explicitly allows it:

"A player may shield the ball by taking a position between an opponent and the ball if the ball is within playing distance and the opponent is not held off with the arms or body."

I was reading a Sheffield Wednesday board on Friday and they’re all convinced the efl have a vendetta against them too.

Weird that isn’t it!?!?!

Yep. Blame your board not the league

Couple already mentioned, Grealish not being called out for diving and the players talking with hands over their mouths.

Few others:

- Players that wear gloves with short sleeve shirts.
- The fascination with playing tippy tappy nice football, surely winning football is what people want.
- Transfer fees, absolutely mental.
- Ticket prices.
- High cost poor quality food/drink inside grounds.

Could go on and on!

Yeah that struck me as odd too.

To anyone who doesn’t think quality has gone up.

Look at the lower leagues. Lots of the players have been at academies since childhood. Also their pitches aren’t a field of mud.

The quality of the infrastructure of football has definitely improved. That is not questioned

In my opinion there has not been a corresponding increase in skill at all levels of the game.

Quality hasn't improved ? Did you ever see Carl Richards, Dean Peer or Colin Robinson playing in the equivalent level to Scott Hogan and Jud Bellingham ?

Just given the number of foreign talents that play in the top league and the improvements in sports training and fitness make it almost impossible that the quality hasn't improved.

No brainer enit.

This is a discussion about the overall standard of football and in particular those beneath the very top level.

In the late 80's and early 90's this club was at a particularly low level so the comparison you offer is not relevant.

Why not compare the current team with the 1972 offering or Jim Smith's team, more recently the play-off specialists of '99 to '02.

FYI I first saw the Blues play in 1958 but I am not suggesting that things were " better in the old days". Merely that despite massively improved pitches and players fitness there has not been a similar improvement in skill levels.
