I wouldn't keep any of the out of contract players & I would try and get rid of every contracted player we have.
Bunch of losers.

Quite a rebuild then!

Indeed but I'd rather stay down & re-build than try and go up with these losers.

To be honest, I'd prefer to get promoted with these losers plus a few additions!

I thought the turnaround on GG was odd from them too.

It's not like we're not stacked in midfield already or anything...

If he gets a new 1 year deal I won't lose sleep over it, but I wouldn't if he moved on either. He's not awful, I don't particularly buy the whole "he's a blues fan it counts for something", but I do think he'd do a job even in a possession based side, and it has been spoken that he's been a solid character in the dressing room - not the worst man to keep around at all.

I'd only keep Ruddy if he stayed as a number 2 so we could sign a Cummings or Tickle as number 1.

Anderson I'd like to see given another year but as they said, very much depends on the manager and that's why it's important we get that sorted.

Jutkiewicz I would also give another year for his leadership through example.

Think there’s a porno named after that.

Realistically we're not going to build a whole new squad that instantly gells and storms the league over 1 preseason.

Ive come around to the idea of keeping Gardner, Juke, Anderson, Ruddy for next season, and then look to replace them next summer with some real quality premier league/upper-championship players when we (hopefully) go up.

That seems sustainable and sensible to me, rather than shipping them out now and relying solely on our recruitment this summer, which we know can be a hit and miss.

I can see an argument to keeping juke and Andersen for depth, maybe ruddy as well so we haven’t got to worry about signing 2 keepers, but Gardner can go.

No issue with me Ruddy and Anderson with me. Both could be starters. Juke and Gardner are good bench options at that level. Need some solid pros around the place. I suspect we will have a fairly young team again.

We’ve just been relegated not promoted. The responses are like our new division next year is the prem. it’s not, it’s league 1. There will be games that calls for physicality, I have no doubt.

Also we are down there because we had good footballers but no where near enough character.

It would not be the worst decision in the world to offer gg a contract

Surely a better solution is to improve the recruitment.

Apart from the albion freekick what did offer this season? Nothing really time to move on

Well said. Some people just don't get it.

I could see an argument to keep Juke, Ruddy (best keeper in the champ apparently…), Sunjic.

Keeping Gardner makes no sense at all, old and injury prone, barely played this year, plus I cba with all the discourse about his brother giving him a deal.
15:15, Fri 10 May
Ruddy is the WhoScored goalkeeper of the season in the Championship so we should give him a contract.
Tell you what that crack is really moreish.

As I've said earlier in the thread, I wouldn't personally keep GG.

I'm sure we all agree we could get better. But what the club will have to weigh up is can we get better for a price which doesn't cost us the opportunity of getting a player in another position that we really need?

I know we've got a lot of money to spend, and I know Gardner isn't starting, but let's say for example we get rid of him and the answer is to buy that Brannagan, if he costs us £2m-£3m plus more wages than GG then is the improvement he provides really worth the money we'd spend on him? And would doing so mean we can't spend as much on another position that we may really need?

That's the key. He hasn't done much right but it's also fair to say he hasn't done much wrong either. I think he would do a job as a rotation option. But the question will always be can we get someone else in to do that job better and is the money worth spending on that player vs keeping Gardner, is this other player significantly better than Gardner to justify the extra cost?

If the right player isn't available or we've more of a need to invest in other areas (i.e. 1/2 GK, 1/2 CB, wingers, strikers etc) then it makes some sense. That's something only the club will know as none of us know who they are targeting as of this moment.
