The programme seller with a shopping trolley from Morrisons was a personal highlight. He took a bit of stick from some old sauce force lads. As did the dog on the vitality advert going around the ground.
It was strange buying raffle tickets for the half time draw. I think that raised £454 for the winner and the club. I was 15 tickets too late in buying my 3. Bastards

That seemed much longer than a 10 minute walk to me mate

Google Maps reckons 11 minutes and 0.5 miles walking through the park. That’s the way I went and sounds about right.

It was really slow getting in to the ground. The collection was ok, I got mine at about 12:10 but the searches were slow. Inside it was just like standing in a park watching Sunday league. Anyone watching on tele moaning about the atmosphere should pop along to your local Sunday morning park game and sing Keep Right On from the touch line. It was all a bit shit.

Loved it though

Not nearly as shit as having to listen to Lee Dixon.

The best way to describe yesterday was like getting a train to Solihull, walking to Brueton Park and a ground just randomly appearing (behind walls) in the middle of it.

Then you walked into a ground akin to the old Moor Green ground and stood on an open terrace where you can’t tell how loud you actually are!

When you have a steward having to restock the bogs themselves and the programmes being pushed around in a shopping trolly, you know you’re very much at a grassroots ground!

I did laugh when I walked out and there was a kids footy training session going on in the park with kids on the swings… as well as a load of 14 year olds in Burberry hanging around thinking about giving it the big un before one old bill moved them on.

It was a surreal but enjoyable day.

Oh right. Fair play. I was going on the route the coach took 😁

Yeah we were heading for that boozer before the fans coming the other way told us it wasn't opening.

Gaffer must be barmy, could have had a right good holiday out of the profits from yesterday.

Some lads apparently jumped in an Uber and went to a pub a couple of miles down the road that was open.

Was that The robin Hood?

Was completely empty when I walked past at 12.15, seems very daft on their part.

Anyway, thanks to the PlatyPussy that gave me their ticket. Great day out.

I liked the double search.
Wand then two steps late a pat down.
No idea why you would bother with both. Plus they were incredibly slow doing it.

I also liked the way once you were in you were in. Didn't matter which stand you had a ticket for.
Letting loads of our fans stand on the perimeter seemed lax as well.
I'm sure that contributed to the quiet atmosphere. 300ish in each stand and 600 spread round the pitch.

The one I'm thinking of was called The Gander I think?

We got in quite early so were able to try out a couple of spots. It reminded me of a Birmingham Senior Cup game.

Probably my favourite cup competition. Love going around all the local shacks and park fields.

I go now and again to our local club Heaton Stannington. They’re in the division below the Northern Premier League, same league now as Bishop Auckland who are a famous name at lower league football. Been on the rise with promotions for a few years, crowds have been decent and over 2,000 attended the league play off last year at the ground. Went Saturday when they lost (a little unluckily) to Emley. The clubs won CAMRA club of the year for Tyneside for a few years, always a good choice of beers and £3.50 a pint, has a ‘Stan Can Van’ which sells cans, ‘Stan Scran’ stall (scran is vernacular for food), excellent chippy on the way in. £6 for old codgers to get in. It’s a good afternoon or evening out.

The club is very active in the community too, lots of kids football, my youngest grandkid (for now) plays for one of their kids teams, they’re great with them.
