The live auctions for The Hundred franchises begin today. Birmingham Phoenix is up later today with Knighthead expected to bid. How would this play out for city and football club depending on the outcome?
I think it’s a different game that nobody gives a shit about. I suspect it’s just a real estate deal at the end of the day.

Knighthead Park Edgbaston. Has a nice ring to it......
Edgbaston is owned by Warwickshire CCC , nowt to do with the franchise that is the Phoenix. Not really sure how there can be any real estate involved.
If they win the bid can they change that awful orange kit please.
I see this purely as a further attempt to buy influence, can't see them making much money from it, if any, but it helps them further when sat round the table with decision makers
I could see the Hundred team playing at a new stadium in a drop-in pitch...
considering some of the other companies linked with franchises im guessing its a play to attract eyes from different markets, whether that works is anybodys guess, franchise cricket is very saturated as it is
i've been getting less interested in it every year but would pay more attention if Wagner and co owned it.
Yeah I think the hundred is a bit of a lame duck currently.
guessing we'll get Phoenix news in the next couple of hours but just seen this
India's richest family, the Ambanis, have clinched a deal to buy the ECB's 49% stake in the Oval Invincibles Hundred franchise through their Mumbai Indians IPL team.

I had briefly wondered if there is room for a cricket ground at Wheels? I presume there is.
I am undecided how I would feel if we built a ground to replace Edgbaston.
I doubt Knighthead will build a brand new cricket stadium for 4 Hundred games(well 8 including the women) a year.

Wasn't the original plan for the new stadium under Gold & Sullivan intended as a replacement for both St Andrew's and Edgbaston, designed to be a multi-purpose venue for football and cricket? Not sure if Knighthead are revisiting the idea of incorporating cricket, but we know they are keen on bringing the NFL into it (obviously due to Tom Brady's involvement in the club)

I'd think the pitch size would ruin it for football - spectators would be too far away. Unless cricket pitches are much smaller than I think!
A t20 specific pitch is, they play them at pretty small stadiums in New Zealand I think. But I agree, far from ideal.
