May not be but it's a reason why I can't get on board with it plus they have almost guaranteed weather in India and Australia which we don't and that is underestimated
TandyOne of them or maybe Edinburgh probably be tenth team but in terms of crowd/stadium you're not much better off than having a team in Brizzle or Newcastle. Indian TV audiences wouldn't give a stuff whether it was Amstelveen or e.g. an expanded HoveThey should invite an Irish and Dutch team into it.
With all due respect, you (and mad) are not the target audience. 😜
This will run alongside other county games, just as the franchise tournaments do in other countries. In South Africa there SA20 is running at the moment whilst there's 4 day games on at the same time. It doesn't matter.
Totally understand that just think it's rubbish for the people over here.
Wonder what the viewing figures are like for the big bash and the 20/20 in South Africa (which neither are the hundred).
On a personal level so you follow any team in the other t20 leagues and follow them religiously?
I don't follow any team in particular, but I've always got the various franchise games on the TV.
I still think we're in the early days of all this, but I think over time the game will re-calibrate to a more modern audience and will be run by Indian billionaires rather than old institutions like the ECB and the ICC.
About time too. I'm looking forward to it.
The franchise tournaments in other countries aren't competing with t20, 50 over and four day games though are they?
The dumbdred and the bash step on each others toes in England, to the detriment of the traditional forms of the game.
If the ECB want to push the dumbdred, then it needs to drop the bash.

I read about this somewhere, I'll try to remember. The viewing figures domestically are good but not great, but that's not the audience. It's hundreds of millions in India. Hence the franchises in SA20 being IPL linked.
We were watching Joe Root in Cape Town over the weekend- nice work if you can get it!
a big chunk of the audience follow players over teams too, so more money into it means better players and more eyes. I'd imagine we might see Indian players more as the franchises own more and more teams and have more influence.
i'm guilty of it myself, i've been watching bits of SA20 but have watched nearly all of Paarl's games because Root was playing, and then Hain yesterday although that didnt go so well :)

Of course the franchise tournaments in other countries are competing with their domestic competitions. As I said, the SA20 is going on at the very same time as 4-day games at the moment.
The ECB won't 'push' anything....they've sold 49% stakes in the franchises to private companies, and gifted the other 51% to the grounds.
That was a big chance for Hain.
It's just not working for him these days. Injuries and some iffy form have meant he's missed his chance I think.
It'll end up with the various t20 tournaments having a schedule over the year to enable each set of Indian owned franchises to have a set of 'centrally contracted' players playing for each of their teams
Which actually does make sense, as it's hard to identify with a team when its different players every year.
No, I mean those countries don't have t20 AND hundred.
They have various T20 comps though, not just the franchise one.
For example, South Africa have the domestic CSA T20 and the SA20 franchise competition.
